I wanted to love it. The green beans tasted like they were from a can. The pulled chicken was very dry. Staff was amazing

If you're a BBQ fan this place is a must-try. Quaint neighborhood spot with a good variety of options and very tasty sides. The sauces are all amazing with a wide variety to choose from. Counter service was fast and extra points for a fun throwback playlist.

Juicy bbq here. Some good tangy, vinegary sauces as well. Wish the brisket came in the slices instead of chopped. I like the rustic mess-hall type of vibe w/ the large bench seating.

Pretty good! The brisket and pulled pork were a little wet and the ribs were thin but the flavors were good and i like the vibe. Sides were also very good, especially the cornbread. The banana pudding kinda tasted like the banana laffy taffy which i wasn't a fan of. Staff is attentive and friendly

The food is great! The service was excellent! They have lots of sauces to choose from! Very home town feel in the restaurant!

Soon as we got through the door we were welcomed with a warm southern accent that felt like a friend saying hello after being estranged for some time. You walk into a compact space filled with outdoor tables and benches that make you feel like you're joining an indoor picnic. At the register the owner greeted us with a big smile and was ready with recommendations based on how hungry we were and what we were looking for. The menu display wasn't anything impressive but it gave the information we needed so if it works, it works. I ordered a full rack of Ribs (dry rub) that came out to $30, my girl had the chopped chicken sandwich. (I only ate half because I was satisfied and wanted to save the rest for dinner. $15 for 2 meals ain't bad at all for what I got.) After I ordered the owner got to talking about his sauces, and there a few options! I ended up getting the Kickin Molasses, Honey Habanero, and his hottest signature Reaper sauce. (At the end I enjoyed them so much I bought bottles to go.) Before we got our food the owner brought us some Chocolate Cornbread, you heard that right, CHOCOLATE Cornbread, that was equally MOIST as it was delicious. When my ribs came out I could see by how juicy they looked that they would fall off the bone and that they did. Meat was tender and seasoning was not over the top, just enough for it to not interfere with whatever sauce you use with the ribs! Now the sauces. Kickin Molasses 6/10 If you like your typical sauces this is for you. It's great but I like a little more kick. Honey Habanero 7/10 Definitely more my speed has more on the honey than habanero but the sweetness is followed by a pinch of firey goodness. Carolina Reaper 9/10 FIRE! But a flavorful fire, too many hot sauces just want to melt your face off while this signature "Carolina Reaper" sauce deals an amazing taste while packing a punch that won't knock you out. I give this place 5 stars for the overall experience. Great BBQ with an owner that is not afraid to show how passionate he is about his food, explain how each item tastes the way it does, and absolutely embodies southern hospitality in conversation and energy. I can't wait to come back and try more BBQ! I was not paid for this review and can only speak for my experience. Btw. I didn't review my lady's food because she finished it before I could try it but she LOVES mac and cheese and rarely likes any from restaurants we go to. She ordered some to go so if that's any indication I think it's a good choice for a side!

As an eastern North Carolina native, I always look forward to eating food that reminds me of home. This shop makes ok bbq but it is not the east nc bbq I was hoping for. They have a vinegar based sauce, which I would say it's the closest I can expect to my home town flavors in the state, as most places don't even have the option. The Interior of the restaurant is a typical bbq restaurant decor, with North and South Carolina decorations. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. It was a little more pricey than I expected, but not much more than most places in town. I'll be stopping by to try some of the other menu items.
